3 things you should prioritize for yourself and why you should not feel guilty about it:
1. Alone time with God.
This is not only NOT selfish to take time away from your family to spend with God each day, but it’s actually a RESPONSIBILITY. Your whole entire purpose, and why you live your life the way you do, comes from Him. Jesus often secluded himself to spend time alone with his Father. You need to be in the Word of God every day so you can know who God is, what he expects of you, and so you can live wisely. Time with God is where your peace comes from. Ever tried mothering or wifing or leading people with anxiety? Time with God spent reading his word, journaling, and praying is the antidote to worry and fear. Want to mother and lead your team with true joy in your heart? That only comes from the Lord. Want to invest in people from a place of service and not selfishness? That only comes through the Holy Spirit. Are you investing in that relationship? It’s the most important relationship you have.
2. Time to take care of your health.
Your body is not only God’s temple, it’s the vehicle you’re gonna use to get anything done that God has called you to do. Stewarding your health well is also a Christian responsibility. Your habits today won’t just effect you, they’ll effect your children and your grandchildren years from now. Good nutrition and exercise require discipline on your part, but your family benefits greatly when you are healthy and thriving and feeling WELL! It also saves your family money when you take good care of your health. You’re either going to invest in your health or you’re going to have to spend a lot of money on your sickness. Read that again.
3. Time to connect.
We were designed to live in community with one another. “Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire; he breaks out against all sound judgment.”
Proverbs 18:1 It’s the opposite of selfish to want to connect with other like minded women. Iron sharpens iron. Find yourself some godly, like minded women that you can do life with, raise kids alongside of, and get biblical advice from when needed.
These things bless your family. Don’t feel guilty for doing them. 🤍a
